ACCOUNT OF RACE: WERUNRME
Rather than spend New Year holed up at home in Paris, I decided with some friends to go to Rome this December 31 to spend the holidays, and go make a small 10K. Frankly, I had the coolest New Year!
Here is my account of race:
After a sunrise at 4:30 am, one rushes to the airport to take the first plane. After a beautiful flight with sunrise included (I have about 70 photos in my iPhone), we arrive in Rome in a polar cold.

Hours later, after recovering our bibs, we prepared from the race village. The atmosphere is very friendly, the village is located in a pretty nice stage, however it peels horribly. It is 0 ° -4 ° felt, and nothing to warm up. The Romans are more chilled than us, it was still 17 ° the previous week, they are super cutlery, hat, gloves, scarves to go running.

Departure is at 15h, it quickly joined the SAS. There are no strap so small grannies are found in the fastest SAS and it smells a little mess.
Since we're almost the last to arrive, the boys run into the SAS -50, girls in the SAS -60. We know that with the world, the course, the cold and lack of sleep, no part to make the performance ...

It quickly passes the start line, a huge yellow mass rushes through the streets of Rome. The atmosphere is super nice, no jostling and everyone laughs (and makes selfies, too many selfies).

However, it is a permanent slalom, quite frankly, and I spend the first few kilometers trying to go up a little the crowd to run at my pace.

The course is sublime, the time too. After two kilometers past to warm up to me & I'm starting to enjoy this moment, and I am clearly spent in tourist mode. I look at the scenery while listening to Cold War Kids  thoroughly. The mileage is not always well indicated (personally I saw the first marker in the 7th km but I'm a little blind).

Around the 5th kilometer you attack the rise of the Villa Borghese, with good ribs and lots of turns. This is an opportunity to speed up a little, but I especially enjoy the scenery and the weather.

The magnificent course will forget that no ravito, no ark to validate the breakthrough time, no barriers on the course, short one follows the movement and laughs but that's clearly not the organization French we know.
Black spot of the race: we find ourselves at a moment in a tunnel where the road is cut in two: one runs while car engines run, and it suffocates half. It was also at that time that a photographer of the race decides to follow me on a scooter and thus suffocate me even more (I think I threw him my most glaring good for 2 minutes).

The race, and around the 9th kilometer we return to the stadium, doing a few turns and then I pass the finish line at 53:49, super happy tourist mode and far from my PR.
Again, disappointment, ravito is fairly basic (water, a clementine, biscotti), no hot drinks and there will be nothing left for many runners who come after us. No medal either, they console themselves by thinking that shopping in Paris too well accustomed us.

We ask ourselves and made some photos and then quickly off again to our apartment

Overall I keep great memories. The course is crazy, the Romans are super nice and everyone in the street encouraged the runners with fervor.
The orga is incredible, but it's still a festive event than a race based around performance, so if you want to run next year, really go in a Zen state of mind 😉

Apart from that, Rome is a very nice city & to visit!
